I am here today to tell you how to decorate these cookies (not the cookie recipe though! Family secret!).
Supplies for decorating:
Black gel icing color
Royal Blue gel icing color
Violet gel icing color
Rose gel icing color
Light corn syrup
Vanilla or other clear extract (a lot of people use almond but I don’t like almond)
I got the icing recipe from this video that demonstrates different icing finishes. I chose the glossy one. The recipe is in the video description, but it has an error so I’ll put it correctly here.
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
2 tablespoons corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon extract
Mix that all up and divide it into 5 containers. Maybe put a little more in the black one since you’ll use more of it. Then add the food coloring to 4 of them (1 color each and 1 white). The nice thing about gel color is that it’s very vibrant with a very small quantity. The black gets that black with like 1/8 teaspoon. Stir the icing up until it’s all blended.
I got the idea for this design from this Etsy listing. They look better than mine. Good thing I’m not selling them.
How I did this was: I used a knife to spread the black around the edges and left a hole in the middle. I used skewers to drizzle violet, blue, pink, and white haphazardly on the middle. Actually I kind of abandoned the violet because it was too close to black. Then I took another skewer and swirled the colors around until I liked it. Then I sprinkled the sugar. I tried a few different types of sprinkles and sprays and liked this kind the best.
That’s all! Have fun!
